Shaws’ new collection of fireclay bathroom sinks will be one of the featured ranges at the Bathroom Gallery, in the Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane, the centre of the London Design Fair in September. The event runs from Thursday 19th September to Sunday 22nd September (Thursday and Friday are trade-only days).

Shaws have been making sinks from heavy-duty fireclay in Darwen, Lancashire since 1897. World-renowned for their Butler and Belfast kitchen sinks (Shaws have been making them for longer than anyone else), the business has recently made the decision to return to the bathroom market. In the 1920’s and 1930’s Shaws offered an extensive bathroom range, but in recent years the focus has been entirely on kitchens. Customers have kept asking about bathroom sinks, however, and many have fitted kitchen sinks such as the Waterside into their own bathrooms. Now Shaws have reintroduced a dedicated bathroom range, inspired by sinks from the archives but designed for the needs of today.

The range includes two bathroom versions of Shaws’ best-selling Butler and Belfast sinks. Resized to suit the bathroom, they meet the current trend of surface-mounted bowls, but offer something entirely different to conventional round basins.

The Shaws Waterling sink is an elegant bow-fronted sink. With its generous dimension it is luxurious and family-friendly.

The Aysgill is a perfectly circular sink with straight sides, echoing the Victoria washbowls popular when Shaws was established in 1897.

Finally the Crossdale is a rectangular inset sink with a distinctive lip, highlighting the durable and beautiful fireclay glaze.

The Bathroom Gallery is a showcase of designer and luxury bathroom brands, situated on the second floor of the famous Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane, E1. This venue is the centrepiece of the London Design Fair, a major part of London’s design season. Shaws will be showing all its new fireclay bathroom sinks together for the first time. Andy Hampson, General Manager of Shaws, is very proud to be presenting this new collection. ‘It’s a very big deal for us – to re-enter a market we were big players in nearly a century ago. Our bathroom fireclay sinks offer something genuinely unique – there really is nothing like them. We’re very excited to put them all in front of both design professionals and consumers for the first time.’
