Five minutes with... David Dare, CEO
Welcome to our new 'five minutes with' feature, giving you the inside scoop from our busy Lancashire factory! To get things started we sat down with CEO David Dare, who has just celebrated 10 years at Shaws; happy work anniversary, David!
Talk us through your decision to take over Shaws of Darwen
Having spent two years at Shaws as managing director, I had already fallen in love with the company and the brand. During my career in high volume manufacturing, I had never been part of something genuinely unique, where handcrafted quality and character comes first. In 2009 the opportunity to buy the company was simply too good to overlook, and we have grown from strength to strength ever since.
What has been your proudest moment in this role?
The thing I am most proud of is the management team. Selecting and fostering a new team, which has taken the company on to an entirely new level of quality and customer service, has been the biggest achievement of my time at Shaws.
In your role you get to travel a lot, where has been your favourite place to visit?
We are very lucky to have such wonderful, loyal customers in amazing places all over the world. I've grown very fond of America during many visits over the years and I have to say that I'm most at home in New York, it's such an exciting city.
